Quick n’ Lovely Review: Arbonne Country Garden Palette

country garden palette
Hey pretty lovelies!

How is everyone doing? Have you commented this month to enter our giveaway yet?

Today I’m going to tell you about Arbonne’s Country Garden Palette. When I first saw it the packaging alone made me want it, however I was reluctant. And even though I’ve wanted to switch to a healthier daily makeup routine I still faltered. But I finally gave in and this beauty arrived in my mail this week.

This awesome set comes with blush, bronzer, four shadows and a lipstick. The fact that its inspired by the English country side kills me! I love it. Let me dive right into the lipstick because I AM IN LOVE.

Seriously if I could order 500 of these I would. I LOVE the packaging and that its white and gold, so cute and so stylish. The pink colour would, in my opinion, suit just about anybody. It glides on like a balm and has a ton of moisture which is incredible for my usually dry lips. Also it smells like candy but its not an overwhelming smell. Its nice and sheer but the colour still stands out and is decent at building.

I’ll tell you now, if you’re going for a matte look this palette is not for you. It has a nice glow and sparkle to it that helps enhance your features and helps you to create a soft, feminine look.

The eyeshadows have a great pay off and they’re perfect for a soft romantic summer look. But you can also build the darker colour for a more bold, yet still soft and romantic eye. The brush is adorable as well, but I usually don’t use brushes that come with a palette, however I like that its all vegan.

Lipstick, blush, bronzer

Lipstick, blush, bronzer

For me I would use the blush as more of a highlight as its got a pretty high sheen, but depending on your skin tone you could love it as a full on blush. With the bronzer I apply it to my nose, tops of my cheek bones, hairline on my forehead and my chin to naturally highlight where the sun would hit my face. I’ve been loving that summer look. And I love the lipstick because it perfectly compliments my lips whether I’m going out to lunch with a friend or having drinks on the weekend.

Bluebell, Woodrose, Birch and Willow

Bluebell, Woodrose, Birch and Willow

If you look hard enough you can actually make out the gold flecks of the shadow Willow. It was pretty hard to photograph but works as a wonderful base or brow highlight. But as you can see the other three have got a great colour pay off.

The upside to this set is that its all vegan with no harmful chemicals. Which means all those adorable animals that I love aren’t getting tested on and I know what I’m putting on my skin wont age me or make me sick.

The only downside in my books is that its LIMITED, so if you’re on the fence just take the plunge. And remember I can get you 20% off!

What have you been using to create your favourite summer looks?

Quick n’ Lovely Foundation Showdown

foundation showdown
Hey Pretty Lovelies!

Foundation — its a complicated staple of a lot of beauty routines. It seems so simple but there is way more to it than meets the eyes, you have to get the correct colour, correct coverage, correct finish for whatever look you’re going for. Personally I feel like I’ve still got a lot to learn about it but so far these have been my staples. Lets go from full coverage to light coverage, shall we?

Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation – In 15

This baby was brought to my attention by V. It is a great matte look with full coverage. I think it is GREAT for contouring and for when you really want that full coverage look to last all the way to last call — if last call is your sort of thing. With this foundation a little goes a long way so even though its expensive it lasts and lasts and lasts.
Downside and tips: Its heavy so you definitely feel it on your skin. I only use it for nights out and I would recommend washing it as soon as you get home. For me this is NOT an every day foundation. Also the smell is pretty chemically.

Nars Sheer Glow – In Mont Blanc

I first heard about this foundation during a Pixiwoo make-up tutorial on YouTube. The price point was pretty scary for me but one day I took the plunge. If I recall correctly it wasn’t a head over heels love, it was gradual but it soon became a staple in my make-up routine. I would say its medium to full coverage and its nice for being able to build. It gives you a nice flawless look thats more natural and glowy. Nic from Pixiwoo used it on her wedding day!
Downsides and tips: When your skin is dry this foundation looks flaky, so make sure to exfoliate! (My favourite exfoliating product is the Arbonne FC5 Exfoliating New Cell Scrub. Want to try it? Ask me for my discount)

Make Up Forever HD Foundation – In 120

This was my staple before Nars Sheer Glow came into the picture. I would say its light to medium coverage. Its light weight so you never feel like you’re totally caking it up. It is great for a daily foundation but its also build-able for a night out, which I love. They also have a ton of colours to choose from.
Downsides and Tips: I noticed once I switched to Nars Sheer Glow that this one wasn’t as flawless as I had remembered, but go try it for yourself!

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation – In 52 Vanilla

This is another foundation V brought to my attention. Its light weight and gives you a light, natural dewy coverage that makes you just glow! It is perfect for every day when you just want to even out your skin tone and rock that natural look. Plus it smells SO YUMMY. In my opinion its the perfect foundation for the summertime, but I did enjoy it in the winter as well.
Downsides and tips: If you’re looking for full coverage matte this is SO not for you.

Vichy Dermablend in 15, Nars Sheer Glow in Mont Blanc, Make-up Forver HD in 120 , Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum in 52 Vanilla

Quick n’ Lovely Review: YSL Glossy Stains

Hey Pretty Lovelies!

I’ve been meaning to do this review for a while as I took the photos ages ago! Finally, here is a review on a few different shades of YSL’s Glossy Stain.

They look more vibrant in the photo.

P.S Did anyone seen the celebrity portraits in this issue of Vanity Fair? Stunning.

Colour – 12 Coril Fauve

– The Look –
The look this product creates on your lips is fantastic. You can go one swipe for a touch of colour or you can build it with a few swipes for a bolder look. These glosses make your lips look fabulous and oh so kissable. As for the packaging, if YSL has something down its packaging, I love that it looks luxurious but still fun, and that slice of colour is my favourite!

– The Function –
I LOVE that these glosses don’t get sticky. Applying it the first couple times can be a little tricky with that new wand because it isn’t like a usual lip gloss wand. But it totally has its upsides and once you master your own technique when using it you are one step away from luscious lips. The staying power is pretty great, if you’re going for a bold look for the whole night you will need some touchups but if you don’t mind it fading a bit as you drink the night away, its there to keep your lips looking colourful and lovely.

Colour - 5 Rouge Vintage

– The Smell and Feel –
The smell isn’t my favourite. It doesn’t have a nice fruity or flowery smell. To be honest it smells like chemicals. But it fades after you put it on, so not to worry! The feel is so unique – it feels really wet but its not slippery and slimy and it sticks to your lips effortlessly but doesn’t make your lips sticky.

– The Downsides –
The smell and the price point at $38.00 (CA).

– Recommend? –
Totally, everyone who loves glosses and loves stains needs at least ONE of these.

You’ll see the swatches below on the left and in the right photo is after I wiped my arm off with with a tissue and then makeup remover.
