scrub

Awaken Sea Salt Scrub from Arbonne’s Aromassentials – $36

Talk about my HOLY GRAIL scrub – I reviewed it a while back. Here it is if you’re interested. This sea salt scrub is full of beautiful smelling essential oils that hydrate your skin instantly ensuring that it is left looking supple, luminescent and beautiful. The sea salt works to scrub away all the dry patches and heals and repairs at the same time, revealing brighter healthier looking skin!

Before I found this scrub my legs were always so painfully dry and scaly – now I don’t have that problem. That is why this beautiful scrub has made it onto my cold weather essentials. I use it 3-4 times a week depending on how often I want to pamper myself.

seasource

Re-Mineralizing Body Lotion 24H from Arbonne’s SeaSource Detox Spa – $61

Finding a moisturizer that I love has always been a hard task for me. Either it doesn’t actually hydrate and it just masks the problem or it is too oily and greasy. When I first tried this moisturizer I was BLOWN AWAY! I love it. It has a hydro-trap technology that helps to hydrate and hold its moisture so you’re not losing it throughout the day. It also helps to give your skin a firmer appearance and it soften your skin. Also because its sea salt based it repairs and heals! I happily use it everyday!

handsandfeet

Pampermint Hand and Foot Care Set from Arbonne’s Holiday line – $46

The smell is INSANELY YUMMY. When I put it on to pamper my hands or feet I can’t help but breath in that authentic candy-cane smell. I just want to eat my hands! And the best part in it is not artificial fragrance that has tons of chemicals, it is all safe smells that come from real ingredients! Everyone asks what it is every time I wear it – it is the perfect smell to get into the holiday spirit.

So there are three of my ALL TIME FAVOURITE cold weather essentials for the body, keep your eyes open for the next one which will be face related! Also one of these goodies could be in a giveaway I’m planning to do soon – so eyes open for that as well!

What are some of your favourite cold weather essentials? Have you tried any of these must haves?

Pretty Bad Ingredients Series

Pretty Bad Ingredients

Hey Pretty Lovelies!

As some of you may know within the last few months I started working with a vegan health and wellness company called Arbonne as a consultant. I’ve always been fascinated by how skincare and beauty products impact our health so I love that my job is about educating people. I thought it would be a fun idea to do a series of posts that focus on that! Look out for Pretty Great Ingredients where I’ll talk about things you want from your skincare and cosmetics!

1. Mineral Oil
Skincare and beauty companies are so sneaky because when I first saw the word mineral oil I thought it was a good thing, like mineral water, etc. But it turns out its actually a by-product of the crude oil industry – read Benzene Gasoline! It costs the gas companies a lot of money to dispose of it properly so instead they sell it off to skincare and beauty companies (especially in North America) so they can use it as cheap filler. And if thats not bad enough its linked to cancer, its the 2nd reason for aging after the sun AND it sits on your skin like plastic wrap so your biggest detoxifying organ aka your skin can’t detox and IF there is anything good in the product its not going in to benefit you.

2. Glycerin
Aka Animal by-product. This is definitely the one that upsets me the most and why I strive to use all Vegan skincare and beauty products for my day to day routine. Have you ever heard of Animal Rendering? Its the recycling process by which Animal by-products get into skincare and beauty (this is a HUGE Industry in North America). They take all meat deemed inedible for us like roadkill, euthanized pets, dead zoo animals, rotten meat, etc and they boil it all together and whatever rises to the top — you guessed it, gets sold to cosmetic companies for filler. Also natural and organic products can still have animal by-products so looking for the word Vegan is key. Note: Glycerin (plant) is in the safe zone!

3. Parfum (Fragrance)
This is an umbrella term for a variety of cocktail chemicals, meaning these companies don’t actually have to tell you what they’ve put in the product! That seriously scares me because there are about 3,000 chemicals they can use and leave nameless without even testing to see if they are TOXIC! And if a product says fragrance free or unscented it can still have chemicals to mask smells of the other chemicals in the products.

Now I’m not going to throw any companies under the bus just yet but I strongly encourage you to READ YOUR LABELS! Even if these products aren’t doing damage to your health now, over time they definitely will. So I suggest starting to introduce safer, healthier products into your day to day routine.

If you are curious to know more let me know as I love educating and spreading the word! Do YOU have any ingredients you like to avoid?

Summer Lovin’ Tag

summerlovintag

Hey Pretty Lovelies!

First off, let me apologize for being so terribly MIA for the past couple of months. Life has been hectic but I am so happy it is calming down (right before I go back to school mind you) so I can get back to this wonderful blog that I’m so passionate about!

The lovely and absolutely wonderful Elaine over at Blabber Beauty tagged us in the seriously fun Summer Lovin’ Tag.

1. Summer lipstick you’re loving?

It actually has to be a lip gloss I think — I’ve been reaching for Arbonne’s Lip Polish in Nude. It is hands down my FAVOURITE nude in the whole world — and it doesn’t have toxins and harsh chemicals like everything else out there so I don’t feel guilty!

IMG_2289

2. Summer nail polish you’re loving?

Absolutely Orange You Jealous by L’Oreal. I tried it over at V’s house because it was (in my eyes) the perfect summer colour and I LOVED how effortlessly it went on. It definitely makes me want to try more L’Oreal nail polishes.

3. Bikini you’re loving this summer?

Sadly I haven’t been in a bikini much this summer — man this summer flew by 😦 But when I did I rocked some pink and mint.

IMG_2292

4. Favourite summer Frappuccino from Starbucks?

I can’t do coffee so I steer clear of Frappuccino’s but I am totally obsessed and always craving the new Oprah Chai tea Latte with Vanilla. Yup still drinking hot drinks over here…

5. Favourite fake tan?

I don’t usually use fake tan but I’m really wanting to try Arbonne’s Made in The Shade Self- Tanner.

6. Favourite Summer song?

Work by Iggy. I just love pretending I can rap with her… plus I am ALWAYS in love with her make-up.

iggy-azalea

7. Favourite summer accessory?

Probably my red thin framed sunglasses or my gold heart shaped sunglasses.

IMG_2291

8. Favourite summer fragrance/perfume?

I don’t wear perfume much because of health concerns but when I do I rock my favourite smell – Ralph by Ralph Lauren.

IMG_2300

9. Summer book you’re loving?

I’m currently rereading the Harry Potter series and I’m on Harry Potter and The Order of The Pheonix. This series will always have a special place in my heart.

10. What are you most excited to do this summer?

I moved in with my boyfriend and that has been pretty amazing. I was really excited to leave student housing and shack up with just one other person, especially him so. 🙂

Thanks again to the stunning Elaine for tagging us, so fun!!

I tag the following:

Holly from Glitter Pots and Lipgloss
Bee from The Beauty Locker
Zoey from Wonderful Little World
Lauren from BlaireBeauty
Jessie from All Things Beautiful

Anyone else that wants to take part in this Tag feel free!

Quick n’ Lovely Review: Arbonne Country Garden Palette

country garden palette
Hey pretty lovelies!

How is everyone doing? Have you commented this month to enter our giveaway yet?

Today I’m going to tell you about Arbonne’s Country Garden Palette. When I first saw it the packaging alone made me want it, however I was reluctant. And even though I’ve wanted to switch to a healthier daily makeup routine I still faltered. But I finally gave in and this beauty arrived in my mail this week.

IMG_1820
This awesome set comes with blush, bronzer, four shadows and a lipstick. The fact that its inspired by the English country side kills me! I love it. Let me dive right into the lipstick because I AM IN LOVE.

IMG_1821
Seriously if I could order 500 of these I would. I LOVE the packaging and that its white and gold, so cute and so stylish. The pink colour would, in my opinion, suit just about anybody. It glides on like a balm and has a ton of moisture which is incredible for my usually dry lips. Also it smells like candy but its not an overwhelming smell. Its nice and sheer but the colour still stands out and is decent at building.

IMG_1818
I’ll tell you now, if you’re going for a matte look this palette is not for you. It has a nice glow and sparkle to it that helps enhance your features and helps you to create a soft, feminine look.

IMG_1819
The eyeshadows have a great pay off and they’re perfect for a soft romantic summer look. But you can also build the darker colour for a more bold, yet still soft and romantic eye. The brush is adorable as well, but I usually don’t use brushes that come with a palette, however I like that its all vegan.

Lipstick, blush, bronzer

Lipstick, blush, bronzer

For me I would use the blush as more of a highlight as its got a pretty high sheen, but depending on your skin tone you could love it as a full on blush. With the bronzer I apply it to my nose, tops of my cheek bones, hairline on my forehead and my chin to naturally highlight where the sun would hit my face. I’ve been loving that summer look. And I love the lipstick because it perfectly compliments my lips whether I’m going out to lunch with a friend or having drinks on the weekend.

Bluebell, Woodrose, Birch and Willow

Bluebell, Woodrose, Birch and Willow

If you look hard enough you can actually make out the gold flecks of the shadow Willow. It was pretty hard to photograph but works as a wonderful base or brow highlight. But as you can see the other three have got a great colour pay off.

The upside to this set is that its all vegan with no harmful chemicals. Which means all those adorable animals that I love aren’t getting tested on and I know what I’m putting on my skin wont age me or make me sick.

The only downside in my books is that its LIMITED, so if you’re on the fence just take the plunge. And remember I can get you 20% off!

What have you been using to create your favourite summer looks?

Pretty Lovely Skincare Series: Arbonne RE9 Advance Line Review

re9graphic
Hey Pretty Lovelies!

Disclaimer: I work for Arbonne but I will be 100% honest about my experience and opinion as some products I love and other don’t work for me. This line was NOT sent to me to be reviewed, I bought it.

Lets get started on another post for our Pretty Lovely Skincare Series! By the way — are you enjoying this series? Let us know!

Arbonne RE9 Advanced
This line is our Anti-Aging line, in fact it is the #1 Anti-aging line for results on the market. YUP you read right, #1 — we beat out all the department store brands and all the other MLM brands. And I can personally say my skin was firmer after 24 hours — I was stunned. But don’t be intimidated by the word “anti-aging” focus more on “high antioxidant” which is great for anyone in their 20’s and onward! It helps to repair, prevent and regenerate from environmental damage!

IMG_0697Lets go in the order of steps shall we?

RE9 Advanced Smoothing Facial Cleanser
This stuff smells good, like oranges and citrus, very refreshing. It removes my make-up no problem — but I’m careful not to get it into my eyes. The pump produces too much for my face so I use half a pump. I like that it doesn’t make my face feel insanely dry after like some cleansers might — its nice and moisturizing. My skin always feel soft and supple after, just as promised. Its got that milky creamy texture that I really enjoy when cleaning my face. Definitely one of my favourites.

IMG_0698
RE9 Advanced Regenerating Toner

This toner has the same refreshing citrus smell. Its pH balanced which means it keeps your Acid Mantle in place — if you use a product that isn’t the correct pH it will strip your face and cause problems like dryness, oiliness and acne, etc. I noticed an improvement within the first couple of days of using this toner. My red and bumpy cheek areas started to improve and smooth out.

IMG_0700
RE9 Advanced Intensive Renewal Serum
Again, citrus smell — OK from here on out just know the whole line smells like orange and citrus because its full of Vitamin C. This serum is collagen-supporting that firms your skin. My face felt firmer after 24 hours, it was incredible. Now because I have a baby face and don’t have fine lines I can’t vouch for the diminishing the appearance of fine lines but I can tell you that all the other consultants I work with that use this line that are older DO NOT look their age what so ever. For me I need to use two pumps of this to evenly distribute it over my whole face.

IMG_0702
RE9 Advance Corrective Eye Crème
This stuff feels great but I’m honestly not sure what its doing for me. That being said I do not have fine line around my eyes — also these products are all preventative so if you want to get a jump start on keeping your skin looking younger this is where to look. It also reduces puffiness and diminishes dark circles — and considering I haven’t worn concealer over the last couple of days… I think its one of those sneaky ninja products that works without you fully noticing.

IMG_0703

RE9 Advance Restorative Day Crème SPF 20
This is the product out of the bunch that I’m not a fan of. Because of the SPF it feels a bit oily or greasy on me. I’m willing to give it a few more tries but it didn’t sweep my off my feet. Having said that it does make my face feel moisturized and doesn’t make my makeup look greasy. I think its actually getting better with more uses, I felt less oily today when I used it. *It is getting better — way less oily and greasy then when I started.

afterlight(1)
RE9 Advance Night Repair Crème
One of my favourites — hands down. It feels so creamy and lovely going on its the perfect way to end your night time skincare routine. It feels amazing and it makes you feel lovely. Its super hydrating but not greasy and I always wake up looking like a million bucks. It does give my cheeks a bit of a burning feeling sometimes, but nothing I can’t handle and I certainly don’t break out from it so this sensitive skinned girl is totally cool with it.

IMG_0705

Any downfalls?
If you don’t like the smell of citrus this probably wont be ideal for you. The first time you use it, it may sting and bring out some impurities of the skin — but that is the point because its correcting the pH balance and problem areas. Again the moisturizer can be a bit greasy but I feel like my skin is adapting to that fact. Also the price point may be a bit much for some.
