scrub

Awaken Sea Salt Scrub from Arbonne’s Aromassentials – $36

Talk about my HOLY GRAIL scrub – I reviewed it a while back. Here it is if you’re interested. This sea salt scrub is full of beautiful smelling essential oils that hydrate your skin instantly ensuring that it is left looking supple, luminescent and beautiful. The sea salt works to scrub away all the dry patches and heals and repairs at the same time, revealing brighter healthier looking skin!

Before I found this scrub my legs were always so painfully dry and scaly – now I don’t have that problem. That is why this beautiful scrub has made it onto my cold weather essentials. I use it 3-4 times a week depending on how often I want to pamper myself.

seasource

Re-Mineralizing Body Lotion 24H from Arbonne’s SeaSource Detox Spa – $61

Finding a moisturizer that I love has always been a hard task for me. Either it doesn’t actually hydrate and it just masks the problem or it is too oily and greasy. When I first tried this moisturizer I was BLOWN AWAY! I love it. It has a hydro-trap technology that helps to hydrate and hold its moisture so you’re not losing it throughout the day. It also helps to give your skin a firmer appearance and it soften your skin. Also because its sea salt based it repairs and heals! I happily use it everyday!

handsandfeet

Pampermint Hand and Foot Care Set from Arbonne’s Holiday line – $46

The smell is INSANELY YUMMY. When I put it on to pamper my hands or feet I can’t help but breath in that authentic candy-cane smell. I just want to eat my hands! And the best part in it is not artificial fragrance that has tons of chemicals, it is all safe smells that come from real ingredients! Everyone asks what it is every time I wear it – it is the perfect smell to get into the holiday spirit.

So there are three of my ALL TIME FAVOURITE cold weather essentials for the body, keep your eyes open for the next one which will be face related! Also one of these goodies could be in a giveaway I’m planning to do soon – so eyes open for that as well!

What are some of your favourite cold weather essentials? Have you tried any of these must haves?

Stay lovely,

Pretty Lovely Rant: Self-love and Beauty

Self-love and Beauty

Hey everyone!

I just found out that Vanity Fair is doing their annual Hollywood issue and they have gotten some of todays biggest stars to pose without make-up on. And they’ve just released two of the photos. Below you’ll see Scarlett Johansson and Kate Winslet — and I seriously think these photos are amazing and they both look stunning. To me these photos are so refreshing; seeing natural beauty like this is so hard to come by in magazines, ads, etc today. In fact its kind of reminds me of seeing a Unicorn… and I can’t remember the last time I saw a Unicorn.

Now this is obviously a blog that loves make-up. But I’m about to pull an Alice (defying what is expected of me) and I’m going to jump down the rabbit hole here. Because although I love make-up like a sister, I’m also totally in love with au natural. And although Vanity Fair may be doing this for the wrong reasons (pretending to be morally awesome just to raise their magazine sales), I am still seriously excited to buy this issue. And I don’t think I’ve ever had the intention of going out and buying an issue of a magazine (unless my current Hollywood crush is on the front).

Like how I slipped him in here? đŸ˜‰

Here at Pretty Lovely Girls we love make-up, that much is obvious. But we haven’t really touched on the self-love part that really pushed me to start this blog. I wanted to create a space where every person who has a love for beauty can stop by and feel like they are chatting with their best friend. And more importantly I wanted to create a space where self-love was valued just as much as a love for beauty products. Because I think if more of us today practice self-love then our children will be more likely to practice self-love. And that, my friends, would be a thing of true beauty.

I think there is a serious lack of self-love when society targets girls and women with the intention of selling them beauty products. We live in a world where if a woman/girl doesn’t wear make-up that means she doesn’t care enough about her appearance or when a woman/girl does where make-up the measurement of how much she wears is a tool to see how vain she is. To me this is complete bull shit! Why can’t we all wear and not wear what we want? If someone wants to wear drag every damn day because its fun and it makes them happy, AWESOME. If someone wants to keep their skin clean of make-up, GREAT! I mean it says an awful lot that nearly every female politician in the lime-light in criticized more on what she wears and how she looks than her political views.

If you’re struggling with self-image, talk to someone because you are most certainly NOT alone. If you feel like you’re hiding behind your make-up, ask yourself why and work on you! If you feel like you aren’t confident enough to touch any beauty products even though you think it would be a fun and creative way to express yourself, ask us fellow beauty lovers for a push!

We should be in a world where we stand up for each other, where we encourage each other for our differences and our likeness. Imagine a world where girls struggling with weight weren’t told to “eat a sandwich” or “stop being a pig” but instead were told they were beautiful and encouraged and nurtured into choosing a life where they felt healthy and happy? What if overall we encouraged a healthy relationship with self-love? If we stopped judging each other for one fucking second, maybe we’d realize we could create something SO MUCH BETTER, a world full of so much more LOVE.

So make-up, no make-up, lets be friends. And to go back to why this rant started — I think seeing strong confident woman be both strong and confident with or without make-up is seriously important today, especially for our children.

So if you have any children or you know any children, be aware of how you project your body image and your level of self-love onto them. They see, they feel and they deserve to have the right and confidence to choose to express themselves anyway they want, be it with or without make-up.
